What is monasticism, really? How does it work as a vital way of doing faith in Africa today? Old / new, missional or contemplative, intentional faith communities are what this blog’s all about.

The trackback thingy doesn’t seem to be working, so try tracking back here, and see if it works the other way.

I think you need an About and Home page on this blog — it’s hard to get from this post to the others.

Hi Carl,
Had a really great discussion with someone from the Catholic community a week ago who knows (among other fascinating things) the history of how and Marrianhill Monastery developed from an originally Trappist community into the “South African” order of Marrianhill that it is now. If you are interested I could check with him if it would be O.K. to let you have his details.
Nice theme for a blog. Hope it really takes off.
Sincere regards,
Willem.

Thanks, Willem – I’d like to get in touch with him.
I wanted to focus on the Mariannhill crisis for my diss, but Philippe said it was over-researched. Their community (and web-site) is quite fascinating.
